Invite kitchen staff
Invite a cook by e-mail, give the person the Kitchen staff role for a branch, and see them join your team.
- Goal
- Your cook has joined your team with the Kitchen staff role and can open the kitchen board of their branch.
- Before you start
- You are the owner or an administrator of the restaurant
- At least one branch exists in your restaurant
- The e-mail address of the cook
The Kitchen staff role is made for people who cook. It shows them only the kitchen board of the branches you choose. They cannot see prices, payments, billing or settings. Only the owner and administrators can invite people.
Open Staff & Permissions
In the sidebar choose Staff & Permissions. The Team tab lists everyone who works with you. Click Invite staff in the top right corner.

- The Invite staff button

Type the cook's e-mail address
The window Invite a team member opens. Type the e-mail address of your cook in Email. The cook must use this same address when they sign in.

- The Email field
Choose the role and the branch
Open Role and choose Kitchen staff. Under Branch access tick the branch where this person cooks. A branch is required for this role. You can tick more than one branch.

Create the invitation
Click Create invitation. RothDine sends an e-mail with a personal link to the cook. The window confirms it and tells you when the link expires. The link works once and stops working after 7 days. Click Done.

- The Done button
Check the pending invitation
Back in the team list the invited person appears with the status Invited and the role Kitchen staff. If the cook has not accepted after 7 days the status changes to Expired. Read Invite your team to resend or cancel an invitation.

The cook opens the link and signs in
The cook opens the link in the e-mail. The e-mail comes from RothDine and its subject starts with "You have been invited to RothDine". If the cook is not signed in, the sign-in page opens. The cook types the invited e-mail address and the password, and clicks Sign in.
The cook has no account yet?
On the sign-in page the cook chooses Create an account and uses the same e-mail address that you invited. After confirming the e-mail address the cook signs in, then opens the invitation link again. See Create your account.

- The password
- The Sign in button
The cook joins the team
After signing in, the page You have joined the team appears. The cook clicks Continue. A person who has only the Kitchen staff role is taken straight to the kitchen board. From now on, signing in always lands there. Read Sign in to the kitchen for what the cook sees.

- The Continue button
See the new member in your team
Reload Staff & Permissions. The cook is now listed as Active with the role Kitchen staff and the branch you chose.

- The new member
Who can accept the invitation
The invitation works only for the e-mail address you typed, only once, and only for 7 days. If the cook signs in with a different address it is refused.
Troubleshooting
Kitchen staff work at specific branches. Tick at least one branch under Branch access, then click Create invitation again.
This person is already a member or has a pending invitation. Look for the address in the team list. To invite them again, cancel the old invitation first.
The cook sees: "This invitation is invalid, has expired, was already used, or was sent to a different email address." Check that the cook signed in with the invited address. If the 7 days have passed, resend the invitation from the team list.
The invitation e-mail could not be sent, so nothing was created. Try again later. If it keeps happening, write to support@rothdine.com.
Your plan counts the members and the pending invitations together as team seats. Cancel an invitation you no longer need, remove a member, or choose a bigger plan.
